Cancer that begins in the cells of the liver is called Liver Cancer. In the upper right portion of the abdomen, there is a football-sized organ. Various types of cancer can develop in the liver. Hepatocellular Carcinoma, comes in the most common type of Liver Cancer, which starts in the main type of Liver Cell(hepatocyte). The types of Liver Cancer such as intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and hepatoblastoma are rare. Metastatic Cancer, which develops in the other parts of the body like the Colon, breast, or Lung, and then spreads into the liver is more common than any type of Liver Cancer.
Factors that increase the risk of primary liver cancer include:
Chronic infection with HBV or HCV.
Cirrhosis
Certain inherited liver diseases like Hemochromatosis and Wilson’s disease.
Diabetes
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Exposure to aflatoxins.
Excessive alcohol consumption.

Treatments for primary liver cancer depend on the extent (stage) of the disease as well as age. Options include liver resection, embolization and Ablation. Other Oncological therapies include Radiation therapy, chemotherapy ,targeted therapy and immunotherapy.
